Kathmandu, 10 January: Chief of the Army Staff, Purna Chandra Thapa, is to leave for New Delhi on Friday on a six-day visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Bipin Rawat.
This will be Thapa's first visit to India after his appointment to the post of CoAS of the Nepali Army. During the visit, CoAS Thapa will be honoured with the honorary title of General of Indian Army by Indian President Ramnath Kovind at a function to be held on January 12, according to NA Directorate of Public Relations. There is a practice since history to honour the CoAS of the two countries with honorary title of General.
During the visit, CoAS Thapa is also scheduled to meet with the Indian Defense Minister, the National Security Advisor and other high-ranking officials. He will hold bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart General Rawat.
