Biratnagar, 17 April : A bomb went off at Indian consulate office in Biratnagar damaging the wall on the premises on Monday night.
Morang SP Arun Kumar BC said the blast in the open space behind the building caused minor damage to the wall. Police said they are investigating to find out on who caused the blast in the office.
Investigating officers suspected cadres of Netra Bikram Chand’s Communist Party of Nepal to have caused the blast. The party had called a general strike in biratnagar on Monday.
The security in the blast site and around office premises has been upped after the blast.
Meanwhile, a suspected item found on the bridge over Gachiya River in the district obstructed transportation along the East West Highway until 8 am Tuesday. The item turned out to be a hoax and transportation has resumed along the highway after 8 am.
