Kathmandu, 17 July, 2017 : Second rung leaders of agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal and main opposition CPN-UML were engaged in 'secret' meetings at a hotel in Kathmandu to discuss on the issues of the amendment proposal.
Sources claimed that RJP-N leaders Laxman Lal Karna, Jitendra Sonal and Manish Kumar Suman were engaged in the meeting with UML leaders including Ghanashyam Bhusal, Rabindra Adhikary, Rajan Bhattarai at Park Village Hotel in Budhanilkantha.
However, the leaders have not revealed about the contents of the two-day long meeting.
Asked about the meeting leader of the RJP-N presidium Rajendra Mahato said meeting among the leaders of different parties was a regular process and that was not a big deal. However, some RJP-N leaders claimed that many of them including the leaders of the presidium were kept in dark while secretly dealing with UML.
Few days ago RJP-N leader Manish Suman had said his party was inching closer with main opposition UML and informal discussions were going on regarding various issues including amendment proposal.
UML leaders have also claimed that they were in touch with RJP-N leaders and were discussing on how their concerns could be resolved and the agitating party could be roped in to participate in the polls.
Following the government's tough stance against the RJP-N during the second phase of local level polls held on June 28 using army and Armed Police Force, the RJP-N leaders were irked with the ruling coalition and their leaders were warning that the party would consider withdrawing support to the NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba led government.
