Kathmandu, 28 July, 2017 : 15th Meeting of India-Nepal Joint Team of Experts (JTE) on SaptaKosi High Dam Multipurpose Project and Sun Kosi Storage-cum-Diversion Scheme was held on 25-26, 2017 in Kathmandu. Nepalese team was led by Mr. Nabin Raj Singh, Director General, Department of Electricity Development, Government of Nepal and the Indian Team was led by Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Member (River Management), Central Water commission, Government of India.
The meeting reviewed progress made since the 14th meeting of JTF including, follow-up action on decisions taken on various items of 14th Meeting of JTE and review of progress made; environmental impact assessment studies; resettlement and rehabilitation plan; design flood studies; Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) studies; power potential studies; power system and power evacuation studies; and drilling activities at the SaptaKosi High Dam site.
JTE also recommended the extension of time of the Joint Project Office of SaptaKosi Sun Kosi Investigation for a period of 30 months from 1st March, 2017;
In addition to above, various administrative matters were also discussed. The JTE decided to hold the next meeting in February 2018.
